Brazilian artist Joe Martins graduated from the University of Sao Paulo.

"I work with the pointillism technique with acrylic paint on canvas with a tendency to abstract expressionism. My concept is to use only the color palette of inks CMYK graphic printing process (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and therefore transferred to the Candace, the same sex and tones of the images resulting from the merger of these for colors provided by the offset printing system on paper."

It became very popular in Europe for a time then, and again during World War 1. It is one of the most popular dissection puzzles in the world.
